這裡是淡水河出海口，可以看出右岸與左岸的發展截然不同，也可能看出一條河系從古至今的發展脈絡，而這裡也是齊導返航經常會經過的地方。城市旁邊就有一條河，不但是經濟發展的動力，當然也是生活品質、城市景觀，甚至是文化發展重要的要素之一。

This is the mouth of the Tamsui River. As we can see, the left and right banks have developed very differently. We can also see how the river has developed since ancient times. Director Chi often passed over this area on his return flight. The river next to the city not only serves as an engine for economic growth. It also plays an important part in terms of quality of life, urban scenery, and even cultural development.

始建於1916年的湖口老街，為紅磚建成之巴洛克風格建築，保存相當完整，建築皆成長條形，前為店鋪，後則供生活起居，是為「街屋」。齊柏林導演曾說這異於別處的色彩紛呈的鐵皮屋頂，讓湖口老街圓拱型的紅磚樓房建築俏皮了起來。

Hukou Old Street was first built in 1916 with Baroque architecture in red brick and remains relatively well preserved. All the buildings are rectangular "shophouses" with the store at the front, and living quarters at the back. Director Chi said the red brick townhouses of Hukou Old Street were set apart from the colorful corrugated iron rooftops elsewhere by their domed roofs.

鴛鴦湖最初是峽谷地形，後因山崩阻塞而成為高山湖泊。這裡有珍貴的苔蘚共生林和種類繁多的原生植物、壯碩參天的檜木林、還有瀕臨絕種的台灣特有種台灣一葉蘭，是相當珍貴而富多樣性的原始生態保留區。

Yuanyang Lake was originally a canyon before it was blocked by debris flow and became an alpine lake. The unspoilt wilderness reserve is home to rare symbiotic moss forests, many varieties of native plants, towering Hinoki forests, as well as Windowsill Orchid (pleione formosana), a critically endangered plant unique to Taiwan.
